(An animation.)
Hello, and welcome to the ADLAB PRO website.
I'm an animated character of a woman with shoulder-length red hair.
I have big eyes, and I'm dressed in a figure-hugging dark dress.
I'm your host for this short ADLAB PRO introduction
illustrating the training materials produced as a result of the ADLAB PRO project,
a European project that has created a wide range of different materials
to use when teaching AD.
These materials are free, and they are designed to be flexible
and used both in professional and academic contexts,
depending on the needs of the learner.
They come in different types and formats, and they are organised into six modules,
each subdivided into units.
You'll be able to use all modules and do a full course
or to pick, mix and match the modules, or even the units,
to fill in gaps in your knowledge or build your own personalised course
on a given AD-related topic.
Module 1 offers a general introduction to AD,
and it illustrates notions that are indispensable for all the other modules.
Module 2 focuses on recorded AD for the screen,
in particular television and cinema.
Module 3 deals with live or semi-live AD of dynamic performances and events,
such as opera and theatre plays.
Module 4 deals with live, semi-live and recorded AD
for static arts and environments, including reference to touch and touch tours.
Module 5 focuses on additional services necessary
to make a product fully accessible.
It covers audio subtitles, voice-over and dubbing.
Finally, Module 6 deals with technical issues and emerging practices,
including a translation of existing ADs, text-to-speech and machine translation.
For each module, a wide range of materials will be available.
These include core videos, additional videos, reading lists,
tasks and a trainer's guide.
Core videos illustrate key aspects of AD. They include subtitles and a transcript
and are based on slide presentations that trainers can re-use and adapt.
Additional media offer supplementary information,
using a blend of audio-visual material.
Reading lists are organised by module
and include the most important references in relation to each topic.
Tasks provide suggested activities and exercises to use in class or at home.
The trainer's guide describes the contents of each module
and the way trainers can use them.
Finally, you can also practise your skills by accessing the relevant link.
Ready to start?
We are sure you will find the materials that are more appropriate for your needs.
